Wow, summer has arrived in South Carolina, and it is HOT!  All my grand plans for a great flower garden have been set aside cause its just too darn hot to do anything outside.

We are settled into our new house in Goose Creek, a suburb of Charleston, SC.  Okay, mostly settled that is.  We still have boxes, bags, and other items fit into any closet (or detached garage) that we can fit them into.  After all our happiness at finding a move in ready  home we still decided to repaint and7

redo a few things.  Plus with the non-stop rain of the last 2 days we have also discovered our roof leaks.  That should keep Jeff occupied this weekend :)

Although we had plans to go back to Maryland and visit our family there, they had to be cancelled

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!

We are busy preparing for the Christmas Holidays.  All of our shopping is finished, all of our gifts are wrapped, and our tree is now up.  Our tree theme this year is purple and silver.  Our pets are rather curious about the tree, but in the 72 hours we have had it, its still standing.

Shauna made the season's first batch of sugar cookies and made a great discovery....a cookie press!  Now instead of spending hours chilling and rolling out the dough, a couple clicks of the cookie press and ta-da...a perfectly formed cookie appears.   Much better than rolling out the dough, then having the cookies stick to the surface :).  Jeff loves them because they are now bite-sized.

We got our first significant, lasting snow last week.  It wasn't as much as they forecasted for us, only about 3 to 4 inches.  But snow on the ground puts everyone into the Christmas spirit.  There is nothing better than going to the Christmas tree farm and walking through the snow to look for your tree (then having to drag it back out to your car in the snow).

We just got back from our vacation in Nags Head NC.  The weather was great, and the water was still warm enough to swim in.  We rented an adorable little beach house with a wraparound deck complete with hot tub.  We took our doggie Scarlett who was terrified of the waves and seagulls, and our kitty Felix who loved to lay outside in the sun on the deck.   Here are some pics from our trip:

We just got back from visiting Shauna's parents in FL.  There is only one word that can best describe our trip...HOT.  We were happy to get back to the less humid climate of Maryland.  While the temperatures are about the same, the humidity level is so much more livable.

While there we relaxed a little bit, but did a whole lot of vegetable canning.  It was Jeff's first experience with canning vegetables and he was a little surprised by the whole process.  We brought back a truckload of vegetables that I am sure we will enjoy during the next year or so.

The highlight of the trip was Jeff's big catch.  He loves to fish, so he was introduced to Southern cane pole fishing in a great little pond owned by family friends.  He took his rod and reel and walked around the pond.  This move paid off big time for him.  He caught the bass of his dreams.  Check out his fishing page to see pictures.

Another highlight was visiting Shauna's sister and her family on Saturday.  We didn't get to spend much time with them, but we had a great shrimp dinner at Barnacle Bill's.  We finished the night off with Shauna's sister on a Paranormal Investigation Tour of Old St. Augustine.  See our ghost page for pictures of the tour, and for more pictures from our area.

We enjoyed a nice dinner on Thursday night with Shauna's friend Ashley and her family.  Jeff got to meet Shauna's second mom and dad for the first time.  We wish we could have spent more time visiting, but it seems that we never have enough time to see everyone when we are down there.

We really did have a great time and would like to thank Shauna's parents and sister for their hospitality.  We can't wait to visit again, when its cooler of course :).
